About the Lakewood-West Colfax BID

The Lakewood-West Colfax Business Improvement District (BID) is a Colorado special district along Lakewood’s historic West Colfax corridor. The BID, a unit of local government, was formed by petition and special election in 2011. In collaboration with the City of Lakewood and other partners, the BID advocates for economic development and capital investment in the district and provides supporting operational infrastructure and a predictable funding for not only 40 West Arts, a 501(c)3 state-certified creative district in the corridor; and the West Colfax Community Association (WCCA), a 501(c)6 serving local businesses, property owners, & neighborhoods—but also local nonprofits aligned with our mission.

While all three entities—the BID, 40 West Arts, & WCCA—are independently operated (with their own boards of directors), they all work together to ENERGIZE Lakewood’s historic West Colfax corridor along with other partners that share that mission.

The overarching goal is to help shape West Colfax into a vibrant destination where locals and visitors come to create fresh opportunities, connect with diverse experiences, and celebrate culture, both old and new.
