40 West Art's mission supports the advancement of individual artists and creative entrepreneurs as well as local residents, businesses, and property owners in an historic corridor—and it helps to energize an entire community and contribute to a state-wide initiative to stimulate the economy through arts and culture activities.
The West Colfax Community Association (WCCA) is a coalition of citizens, business owners, community leaders and local organizations working together to foster and sustain an engaged community and the economic vitality of the West Colfax Corridor. WCCA exists to serve the West Colfax Community--its businesses, residents, and partner organization--by providing reliable community information, a forum for community dialogue, and a unified voice for community advocacy to help support the quality of life and economic vibrancy of the corridor. WCCA partners with the City of Lakewood, the Lakewood0West Colfax BID and 40 West Arts District to create and sustain a reinvigorated public identity and attract new customers, new investment, and new businesses to the corridor. Read our roadmap to the future: The West Colfax Vision 2040 Action Plan.
The Creativity Lab of Colorado (the Lab) is a collection of collaborative capabilities, centered around creativity, innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit. A public-private nonprofit formed in the district and support by Colorado Creative Industries, RMCAD, the BID and other community partners, the Lab serves students and start-ups, emerging entrepreneurs and existing businesses, creatives and community leaders through three focus areas--each in its own way aimed at empowering the art of entrepreneurship.
The Lab's three distinct focus areas are:
1. The Creative Business INCUBATOR 2. The Vision and Design STUDIO 3. The INSTITUTE for Creative Community Leadership
40 West Arts and its members and volunteers are embarking on a comprehensive Place-Making Initiative. This expanded initiative kicked off in 2015 with stakeholder planning meeting to develop a plan designed to visually differentiate 40 West Arts District from the corridor at large in a thoughtful, well-integrated, and compelling way.
The Colorado Enterprise Zone (EZ) Program is designed to promote a business-friendly environment in economically distressed areas by offering state income tax credits that incentivize businesses to locate and develop in, and non-profit organizations to assist with the needs of these communities.
